OOH Lincoln Ladies Launch Logo
08/08/2008
OOH Lincoln Ladies F.C. is delighted to officially launch the club's new insignia and club badge.
Designed by former club chairman Rick Futter, the new look badge and insignia incorporates the new club name and away shirt sponsor OOH Media Group PLC's logo and colours, with much of the former insignia traditionally used by Lincoln Ladies.
The cross of St. George remains as does the yellow Imp, which belongs to Lincoln City F.C., with the words "Lady Imps" emblazoned across the image of the Imp - boldly stating the link that remains between the two clubs Lincoln City FC and OOH Lincoln Ladies FC.
"I am absolutely delighted with the new club insignia and badge," declared OOH Lincoln Ladies Chairman Geoff Adams. "It looks extremely elegant and strong as well as smart and pleasing on the eye - it's simple but says it all. I'm also delighted with the way it brandishes the club's new link with our kind club-name and away shirt sponsor OOH Media Group PLC, while still retaining the traditional aspects of our former insignia.
"I take this opportunity to once again thank OOH Media Group PLC boss Ray Trew for giving our club this extremely generous sponsorship, which has forged a strong bond between our club and his new company, and for his continuing generosity and brilliant support of our club. All the players, committee and staff are proud to bear this new insignia, and we are all delighted to be associated with OOH Media Group PLC in this way", he said.
Meanwhile, on the pitch, Rod Wilson’s side knocked three past Stockport County without reply in a midweek friendly.
With Lincoln’s week-long intensive preparation under way at Myerscough College in Preston, Wilson’s squad were keen to build on their last two successes against Leicester City Ladies and Radcliffe, while Stockport – who were relegated from the WPL Northern Division last season – wanted to show they hadn’t lost any ground and lay down the gauntlet the for their challenge for promotion from the Northern Combination back into the Women’s Premier League this season.
OOH Lincoln Right-back Leandra Little put the visitors ahead early on from a pin-point accurate free kick into the box - she broke away from her marker and headed the ball powerfully into the back of the net from close range.
Kirsty Richardson then put England international Amanda Barr through on target with a stunning pass, Barr finished from 25 yards with a thunderbolt into the top right hand corner of the net.
With just minutes of the match remaining the referee awarded Lincoln a penalty for a trip-up in the box – new signing sixteen year old Grace John stepped up to the spot and buried the ball confidently to make the final score 3-0 to the Lady Imps.
“I was extremely please with our performance,” said Wilson. This was undoubtedly our best performance of the pre-season so far. I believe we are now easily as good as we were last season, and I still have players away or injured.
"Grace John is an absolute find for us, and as young as she is she’s scaring the life out of opposition defences – she has a great future in football. I’m pretty much satisfied with how things have gone so far, and this was a very good win against a very decent Stockport side. They will be hard to beat in the Combination League this season, so I’m very pleased with this result!”.
