FA TESCO PREMIER LEAGUE
NORTHERN DIVISION

Crewe Alexandra 2-1 Rotherham United

Crewe Alexandra won the bottom of the table clash with Rotherham United, to move within one point of their opponents. Nicky Galllimore saw Crewe in front with a 36th minute opener but they had to wait until a minute from time for Amanda Goodwin to extend the lead, Helen Lynskey then replying for the visitors.

Preston North End 1-5 Nottingham Forest
Preston North End took a 2nd minute lead through Vikki Eastwood, after Dani Maslin parried a corner. But the Northern Division leaders swiftly fought back. Andi Bell levelled four minutes later, slotting home after a blistering run and a Natalie Clarke pass. Ten minutes later, Bell drove home following Forest pressure, with Clarke then driving in the third from a great Kelly Finley through-ball.
From a well-delivered corner by Emily Simpkins on 70 minutes, Kirsty Robson deftly headed home (pictured). Clarke stepped up again for her brace in another well oiled move and finished with the final goal of the game from 15 yards on 76 minutes.
Forest Manager Lisa Dawkins said: “After the worst possible start, I could only wait to see how the players would react. But what happened next was a magnificent performance from a hungry squad of players, further strengthened by our new signing Ellie Gilliat, and all desperate to play after an 8 week break. I could pay tribute to every player for the part they played, but our forwards were breathtaking today – that being backed up by an inspirational display from Captain Kelly Finley."

Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 Stockport County
Sheffield Wednesday beat Stockport County 2-1 to go level on points with fourth-placed Preston. Rachel Skeemer beat the advancing Stockport keeper in a one-on-one and calmly slotted home for the first goal. Substitute Sarah Smith put in a fabulous performance and got her rewards as she doubled the Owls' lead in the second-half with an excellent close-range. County clawed back a late consolation goal, when a low cross was turned into her own net by Lucy Foreman.
Wednesday manager Daniel Duke said: "I was a little disappointed that we went in at half-time only 1-0 up. We had created five or six clear cut chances that on another day would have been in the back of the net. In the second-half we took the foot of the pedal and allowed Stockport back into the game but I'm pleased with the three points and the current run of form I'm getting from the players."

SOUTHERN DIVISION
Colchester United 1-3 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace rose to fifth in the Southern Division, with a 3-1 win at Colchester United, who have still to register a home point. Kettinde Ogunneye put Palace two up with goals on 19 & 27 minutes. Emma Dunmore replied with 22 minutes remaining but Rebecca Merritt made sure of the points with a third on 79 minutes.

Newquay 1-3 Millwall Lionesses
Millwall are up to third after a good 3-1 result at Newquay, where the Lionesses were 3-0 ahead by half-time. Amy Mason bagged a brace in the first half-hour, with Joanne Woodgates converting a 40th minute penalty, before Leanne Lapham netted a late consolation.
